Tottenham Hotspur attacker Son Heung-Min has been voted the PFA Bristol Street Motors Fans’ Player of the Month for January.
In a poll run by fan engagement experts Snack Media, who are overseeing the monthly awards this season for the four top divisions in English football, the South Korean international won the January award with 23% of the vote, edging past Manchester City pair Sergio Aguero and Leroy Sane, West Ham United’s Marko Arnautovic, Kasper Schmeichel of Leicester City and Chelsea’s Eden Hazard.
After some sterling performances in the first month of 2018 – especially against West Ham and Everton in the middle of January – Son contributed two goals and two assists to his side’s tally as Mauricio Pochettino’s side kept their top four dream alive.
On New Year’s Day, Spurs sat seven points behind fourth-placed Liverpool, but right now they sit just a point behind Chelsea who are now in that position, albeit with a game in hand. They are still alive in the FA Cup and are also gearing up to take on Juventus in the Champions League, so now is very much the time for the form players to come to the fore and build momentum.
It was a tight vote for January’s player of the month, and the results in full are below:
Son Heung-Min – 23%
Sergio Aguero – 18%
Eden Hazard – 17%
Marko Arnautovic – 17%
Leroy Sane – 14%
Kasper Schmeichel – 11%
