Erik Lamela was purchased from Roma in the summer of 2013 for £30million, and was probably the biggest flop of the season barely playing any games for Tottenham Hotspur due to poor form and niggling injuries.
Now over a year later, the Argentine midfielder is finally doing his price tag justice with some brilliant performances for the Lilywhites, but last night Lamela could have scored a goal that would be worth £30million alone!
The second goal in Spurs’ 5-1 win over Asteras Tripolis in the Europa League, the former River Plate attacking midfielder received the ball coming from the right and – instead of going for an easier right footed shot – used his left foot to go around his standing right foot to score a spectacular ‘rabona’ from 20-yards!
Lamela later went on to score a less brilliant volley, but after scoring his first any goal after that would be considered normal.
Now the big question remains, will this be the confidence boost required for the 22-year-old to start performing consistently and finally fulfil his immense potential?
