Spurs ace rejected double salary offer to stay

Controversial Tottenham striker Emmanuel Adebayor rejected a January deal worth around double what he currently earns from a Qatari side to stay at White Hart Lane, according to reports from the London Evening Standard.

The Togolese forward has been a sparsely used star in Mauricio Pochettino’s first-team this season, and many fans have grown frustrated with his presence at the club.

With his salary at a staggering £100,000-per-week, supporters believe he is merely staying at White Hart Lane to pick up his paycheque, with his game time limited by Harry Kane.

However, LES are reporting that the 30-year-old was offered a massive contract worth around £130,000-per-week after tax – which works out at roughly £245,000-per-week – from an unnamed Qatari club.

It’s thought that Adebayor is eager to stay in London, with his family settled in the area.

Spurs almost offloaded the African ace on transfer deadline day, but proposed switches to both QPR and West Ham collapsed.
