Spurs ace talks up ‘really good’ January target

Tottenham defender Eric Dier has hailed Danny Ings as “really good” and Burnley’s “most dangerous player” amid speculation linking the 22-year-old with a move to White Hart Lane.

Spurs are understood to be one of a host of Premier League sides keen on the marksman, with talk of a £7m move for his signature this month doing the rounds.

Although one of the Clarets’ key players, Ings – who smashed 21 goals in the Championship last season – could well leave Turf Moor before the coming transfer deadline, with his contract now in its final six months.

Spurs and their players will get to see the hit-man up close once again on Wednesday night as the two clubs clash in an FA third round replay, and Dier, who played alongside the forward at England U-21 level – believes that he’s a great talent:

“Danny Ings is a massive threat and he’s probably their most dangerous player,” he is quoted by London24.

“I’ve played with him at England Under-21 level and I’ve seen at close quarters that he’s a really good player. He’s shown that he’s very sharp, so we’ll have to keep an eye on him.”

Spurs boss Maurico Pochettino is thought to be after a forward this month with Harry Kane short of top-class back-up.
