Spurs are fighting a losing battle in the race to sign Malcom

Tottenham Hotspur transfer target has revealed that a move to Paris Saint Germain is his “dream”, as per French Outlet RMC Sport.

That admission from the wideman makes it clear that Spurs are fighting against the French giants’ reputation within the country and also the swathes of money on offer in Paris.

What’s the story?

The report states that the winger, valued at £40.5m by Transfermarkt, dreams of a switch to the French leaders although there are many clubs interested in his services this summer.

It also confirms that he is likely to leave Bordeaux in the next transfer window, but states that discussions are already ongoing between PSG and the player.

The player explains his reasons and they centre around the ambition to win trophies but privately, the greater financial rewards are likely to be a bonus at the very least.

Tottenham just can’t compete

The first thing to mention here is that as much as Spurs fans can refute their side’s need to win trophies in order to continue their improvement, it is clearly a factor.

Silverware gets the attention of players all over the world and for as long as Spurs do not win any, there is going to be a limit to how well they can convince potential new recruits to get on board.

Moreover, they’re not going to be offer the same financial incentives as PSG can, and it is yet another reminder that Tottenham – until they are up and running in this new stadium and having Champions League football there year in and year out – cannot compete on that plane.
