Spurs bid £19m for Franck Kessie as Juventus drop out of the chase

In an exclusive reported by Calcio Mercato, Pochettino’s Spurs are said to have already tabled a bid for the much hyped Franck Kessie of Atalanta.

What’s the story?

We discussed last month that Chelsea had joined the race for the signature of Franck Kessie but the latest reports suggest Spurs have stolen a march on the Stamford Bridge side.

Calcio Mercato say Spurs have in fact already bid with a fee of around £19m to bring him to White Hart Lane.

They reckon that’s knocked Juventus out of the running to sign the Ivorian midfielder with the Italian giants said to not want to go beyond £17m to get their man.

That’s a huge boost for Spurs but they still face a battle to get the deal done with Calcio Mercato also reporting the likes of Chelsea are still interested, alongside Man United and Arsenal.

Why the hype?

Kessie, just 19 years old, has emerged as a Serie A sensation this season, making 15 appearances in the centre of midfield and scoring 5 goals.

That form has helped Atalanta to 29 points in the league table, currently sitting 6th just four points behind AC Milan in 5th. There’s a real possibility they can achieve European football come the end of the season.

He’s making an impact on that international scene too, making 10 appearances since his debut at the age of 17 two years ago.

One of Europe’s hottest properties, Spurs fans should be cheered by these latest reports linking them to a substantial bid for player.
