Tottenham Hotspur boss Jose Mourinho has hailed Dele Alli after his brace against AFC Bournemouth, per Football.London.

What’s the word?

The England international netted twice as Spurs kept up their 100% record under Jose Mourinho’s management.

A 3-2 victory was recorded thanks to Alli’s brace and a strike from Moussa Sissoko.

And Mourinho was thrilled with the 23-year-old’s contribution.

He told reporters: “Dele, I don’t need to speak about. The best thing that can happen to a coach is when you don’t need to speak about a player because everybody speaks, all of you, fans, everybody speaks about him and speaks about him for the right reasons. He’s playing really, really, really well.

“I couldn’t ask for any more from him. He’s playing amazing, scoring goals, assisting, working, fantastic.”

Tactical tweak

Mourinho has nailed it with Alli.

Asked about his best position, he said: “For me, Dele is not a midfielder. He needs to be playing where he is, right behind Harry Kane.”

Never has a truer Tottenham word been spoken.

Alli has an exceptional record when playing as a secondary striker, scoring 18 goals in a single Premier League season in 2016/17.

Freeing him up and giving him the licence to get forward and become a nuisance to opposition defences has been a masterstroke thus far, with Alli scoring three goals in just three games under new management.

With Harry Kane the only senior out-and-out striker in the Spurs ranks, making Alli another forward has looked a genius move from the former Real Madrid and Inter Milan boss.

If he keeps this up, the burden on his international team-mate will surely be lessened.
