Spurs closing in on potential Kaboul replacement

Tottenham are keen to push through a surprise deal for Cologne defender Kevin Wimmer as Younes Kaboul nears a move to Roma, according to reports from The Metro.

Reports suggest that the Lilywhites are in talks with the 22-year-old Austrian’s representatives surrounding a deal.

The move may come as a result of Kaboul’s discussions with Serie A side Roma, while fellow defender Vlad Chiriches has also been linked with the Rome giants.

If one, or either, of the centre-backs leave, manager Mauricio Pochettino could find himself short of cover over the back end of the campaign, and Wimmer is seen as an option.

A possible fee is as of yet unknown, but reports suggest that a switch could get over the line before 11pm’s transfer cut-off point.

In what could be a hectic end of the window, Spurs are also thought to be closing in on MK Dons starlet Dele Alli.
