Spurs confident of wrapping up deal for pacey attacker (not N’Jie)

Spurs are confident they can seal a deal for West Brom’s Saido Berahino before the looming transfer deadline passes, according to reports from the Daily Mail.

The Lilywhites have endured a fairly quiet summer window so far, with defensive trio Kevin Wimmer, Kieran Trippier and Toby Alderweireld the only major additions at White Hart Lane.

A deal for Lyon’s Clinton N’Jie is thought to be close, and now it’s emerged that the Lilywhites are confident that they will be adding Berahino to their attacking ranks too.

The Londoners believe that the England U-21 star is eager to join them, even though they are reluctant to match the Baggies’ £25m valuation – chairman Daniel Levy only wants to pay around half that figure.

However, reports suggest that a sum of around £18m could be a compromise figure to suit both parties, while the addition of Salomon Rondon at The Hawthorns means that the Midlands club have an replacement forward in place already.
