Spurs considering stunning move for Man City flop before transfer deadline

Spurs are pondering a shock late move for Manchester City centre-back Eliaquim Mangala before Wednesday’s transfer deadline passes, according to reports from ESPN.

The France international joined the Citizens in the summer of 2014 for a staggering £32m after impressing at Porto, but he has largely failed to justify that huge price-tag at the Etihad Stadium and has dipped in and out of the starting XI in his time at the club.

Yet despite his tricky spell in England, reports claim that Spurs are eyeing a potentially difficult move to lure the 25-year-old south to London.

Mangala is yet to feature in any of Pep Guardiola’s matchday squads since the Spaniard’s arrival, hinting that he has little in the way of a future under the ex-Barcelona coach, while the addition of John Stones from Everton has brought further competition for a starting berth.

It remains unclear as to whether Spurs will pursue a loan deal or a permanent transfer, or if Man City will do business with a potential title rival.
