Tottenham Hotspur have held face-to-face talks with Giovani Lo Celso’s representatives over a potential summer move, per local football outlet Estadio Deportivo.

What’s the word?

Spurs have been heavily linked with a potential move for the Real Betis attacking midfielder throughout the summer and it appears that negotiations are continuing.

Indeed, the Spanish report claims that Spurs sent intermediaries to meet with Betis officials just a couple of days ago.

The transfer, as such, is said to be 80% complete, as Tottenham look to restructure a squad that reached the Champions League final last season.

Spurs have already signed Tanguy Ndombele from Lyon and Jack Clarke from Leeds United, but a separate Sky Sports report claims that negotiations with Betis have stalled, with the two clubs struggling to agree a fee.

The goalscoring talent

Lo Celso would massively ease the burden on Harry Kane at Spurs.

The playmaker’s goal tally last season outstrips every Spurs midfielder with ease – only Christian Eriksen, with 10, comes remotely close.

Adding him into a starting XI that could also include Son Heung-Min and Lucas Moura will add some genuine goalscoring pedigree and ensure that the supply line is running smoothly.

Kane has always been the go-to man for hitting the back of the net but Lo Celso would come in and instantly become a threat; only the England captain and Son scored more in 2018/19.

He would be a remarkably potent signing.
