Spurs eyeing January move for 23-goal former Prem champ

Spurs are considering a mid-season loan move for former Manchester City striker Alvaro Negredo, according to reports from Yahoo Sport.

The Spaniard is currently plying his trade back in his homeland with Valencia after making his temporary move to the Mestalla a permanent transfer during the summer.

However, despite his status as a new arrival, Negredo has been dropped by manager Nuno for the club’s last five games, leading to suggestions he has no future with Los Che, especially with the emergence of Paco Alcacer.

And reports claim that this has alerted Spurs, who are ready to take a chance on him in January.

The 30-year-old starred for Manchester City during their title-winning 2013/14 season, netting 23 goals.

Most of his efforts came before the winter period, at which time his form tailed off.

He then moved to Valencia on loan for last season, scoring five La Liga goals to help the coastal club to Champions League qualification.

Negredo could act as cover for Harry Kane, who is currently Mauricio Pochettino’s only orthodox centre-forward.
