Tottenham Hotspur manager Jose Mourinho may already have his sights set on the summer, even though his side are still in the Champions League and are only four points behind fourth place in the Premier League.

He's even publicly stated that he wishes he could effectively simulate until the end of the season so that he can get the likes of Harry Kane, Moussa Sissoko and Heung-min Son off the treatment table and back on the pitch.

This week, Spurs have been linked to RB Leipzig playmaker Emil Forsberg, which would only bolster the aforementioned claim.

According to German tabloid BILD, via Sport Witness, the north Londoners have been offered the Swedish midfielder, who expected to command a fee of around €20m (£16.9m).

While Aftonbladet claims Mourinho is a big fan of the Leipzig man.

It has caused fans to discuss his potential arrival on social media, here's what has been said...

Some supporters were all for signing him, claiming it would be one for squad depth and that he has "always looked quality" for his national side while one hoped Spurs would sort their business early, even if it were wishful thinking.

Forsberg has scored nine goals and provided four assists in all competitions this season, yet in spite of that, the overriding consensus was a resounding no.

Lots of reasons were given as to why - "too old," "bench warmer" and "bigger than life attitude" were just three.

Others hinted at the team needing other positions more, such as at full-back and at centre-back whilst another claimed Spurs should be targeting the Leipzig right-back, Nordi Mukiele, instead.

Meanwhile, Norwich City's Emi Buendia was a further suggestion.

Forsberg was also compared to players of similar nature by supporters, ranging from Spurs past and present to other top-flight stars.

A couple of fans noted that the 28-year-old could be a replacement for Christian Eriksen while one labelled him the David Silva of the Bundesliga.

Although, not all were positive as he was brandished a "Swedish Erik Lamela" because he's alright but is often injured.
