Tottenham Hotspur fans have lavished praise on Peter Crouch after the former striker announced his retirement from professional football.

The 38-year-old has brought the curtain down on his career after a 21-year professional career that has seen him play for a multitude of clubs.

Crouch began his career at Spurs, prior to a move to QPR in 2000. Spells at Portsmouth, Aston Villa, Southampton, Liverpool and a return to Pompey followed, prior to another stint at Spurs. He then spent eight years at Stoke City before ending his career at Burnley. He also won 42 caps for England.

And he is fondly remembered in north London, having scored the goal – with his head, naturally – that secured Champions League qualification at the expense of Manchester City in 2010, while also netting a crucial strike away against AC Milan in the San Siro.

In total, he made 93 appearances for Spurs, scoring 24 goals and laying on 21 assists.
