Tottenham Hotspur are set to attempt to sign Giovani Lo Celso on a permanent deal in the January transfer window, per Marca.

Spurs initially signed Lo Celso on loan from Real Betis in the summer.

The big fat Tottenham quiz of 2019 - how much do you remember about the last year at Spurs?

But within that deal, they are said to have included two purchase options, with one significantly cheaper than the other.

Indeed, Mundo Deportivo states that Spurs will have to pay €32m (£27.2m) to sign him this month, as opposed to €40m (£34m) in the summer.

And several fans have urged the club to get the deal done and tie the Argentina international down.

However, others are convinced that this will be Spurs' only deal of the January transfer window.

This is Jose Mourinho's first window as the club's manager and Spurs have been in poor form recently.

They have not won any of their last three games in all competitions and also have Harry Kane on the treatment table after sustaining a hamstring injury.

But supporters are not expecting chairman Daniel Levy to stick his hand in his pocket, even though several have urged him to.

Lo Celso had a game-changing impact on Sunday, coming off the bench to help Spurs record a 1-1 draw with Middlesbrough in the FA Cup third-round, keeping them in the hat for the fourth round.

He has scored once for the club, in a 4-0 thumping of Red Star Belgrade in the Champions League, but he has yet to register an assist.

Meanwhile, Spurs fans have blasted one man.
