Tottenham Hotspur lost 1-0 to Ajax on Tuesday in the first leg of their Champions League semi-final but fans spent the aftermath of the game waxing lyrical about Moussa Sissoko.

The former Newcastle United midfielder, signed for £30million on deadline day of the 2016 summer transfer window, has enjoyed a renaissance under Mauricio Pochettino this season.

He has been integral to the club's hopes of finishing in the top four of the Premier League and of completing perhaps the unlikeliest Champions League triumph in recent memory.

He was initially deemed unfit to start the game and was named on the bench for the clash with the Dutch giants.

But the France international was introduced with the score at 1-0 - Donny van de Beek scored the only goal of the game - after Jan Vertonghen sustained a nasty looking head injury.

And Sissoko's introduction completely altered the flow of the game, with Spurs suddenly more assertive while in possession.

His cameo did not go unnoticed, either, with loads of fans taking to Twitter to praise the impact he had on proceedings.
