Tottenham fell to a 2-1 defeat away at Watford on Sunday and Spurs fans on Twitter criticised Mauricio Pochettino's team selection after the game, believing that Eric Dier was missed in holding midfield.

The Argentine boss went with a back three of Jan Vertonghen, Davinson Sanchez and Toby Alderweireld with Mousa Dembele the only form of protection in front.

After a relatively uneventful first half, the Lilywhites went ahead thanks to an Abdoulaye Doucoure own goal. However, as the tide of the game turned the Vicarage Road crowd got behind their side and the Hornets went ahead thanks to headers from captain Troy Deeney and centre-back Craig Cathcart.

With Dele Alli and Christian Eriksen the other two midfielders ahead of Dembele, Spurs were vulnerable and the Hertfordshire side took advantage of this, with Dier remaining on the bench for the whole 90 minutes.

The 24-year-old had started all three of Spurs' Premier League games before the trip to Watford and Tottenham had secured maximum points so it was no surprise to see fans of the club disappointed that Pochettino changed a winning starting XI. Check out some of the best tweets here.
