Tottenham Hotspur fans have praised Eric Dier after he admitted that he has endured a "difficult" season, per the club's official Twitter account.

The England international has struggled for form and fitness this season but scored the opening goal in the club's 2-2 draw with Everton on the final day of the Premier League season.

Dier has made 27 appearances in all-competitions, with 20 of those coming in the Premier League.

He has not strung together more than six Premier League appearances on the bounce, however, with appendicitis and a hip injury robbing the 25-year-old of the momentum needed to lock down a place in Mauricio Pochettino's starting XI.

Dier appeared to admit as much after the clash with Everton, telling the club's Twitter account: "It's been a very difficult season but I'm happy to have ended it that way for me.

"The great thing about football is that you're always learning and you can always do better and get better and now I'm just looking forward to hopefully staying fit and healthy and being able to help the team."

Spurs, of course, face a Champions League final on June 1, playing Liverpool in Madrid for the right to be called champions of Europe.

And fans have expressed their pride in Dier as he looks to enjoy a better 2019-20 campaign.
