According to the Daily Mirror (print edition, February 12th, page 56), reported via HITC, Tottenham Hotspur are interested in signing Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge in the upcoming summer transfer window.

Sturridge’s current contract at Anfield is set to expire at the end of this season. Considering the 29-year-old has scarcely featured for Jurgen Klopp’s side since the turn of the year, it’s probably fair to say his long-term future is not with the Reds.

The 26-cap England forward will likely become a free agent at the end of this season then, meaning he’d available on a free transfer. Spurs could certainly be attracted to such a bargain.

Mauricio Pochettino’s squad needs a back up striker to Harry Kane, with 33-year-old Fernando Llorente having struggled to adequately fill that role this season. However, Sturridge’s dodgy fitness record and the fact he’s not been a Premier League starter for a couple of seasons now could put the north London club off.
