Tottenham Hotspur supporters have lavished striker Vincent Janssen with praise after his return to action against Brighton & Hove Albion.

The Dutch striker came on as a substitute in the closing stages of the encounter, with the scores still goalless.

With Spurs looking to break the resolute Seagulls defence down, Janssen replaced Lucas Moura and joined Fernando Llorente in a two-man attack.

Following his introduction, and his occupation of Brighton's defenders, Spurs found a way through, with Christian Eriksen firing home from range to give Mauricio Pochettino's men all three points.

Janssen's substitution was perhaps the most surprising moment of the night, with Spurs fans singing his name as he jogged onto the pitch.

Indeed, Janssen's last appearance for the club prior to the game against Brighton came in 2017, when he played a single minute in a 2-1 defeat to Chelsea, but he won't feature next week against Ajax in a match that Spurs are favourites to progress in the Champions League betting markets.

He has thanked fans for their support, with supporters quick to send their goodwill towards the 24-year-old.
