Tottenham Hotspur fans are surprised that goalkeeper Paulo Gazzaniga has not been included in the latest Argentina squad.

Spurs confirmed on Thursday that both defender Juan Foyth and playmaker Giovani Lo Celso have been called up for games against Brazil and Uruguay in the coming month.

Gazzaniga, though, has not been selected.

Indeed, he has won just one cap for his country, playing 31 minutes in a 2-0 win over Mexico in 2018.

The former Southampton stopper has made six appearances for his club thus far this season, deputising for Hugo Lloris after the France international injured his elbow against Brighton & Hove Albion. He is not set to return until 2020.

Gazzaniga, of course, was in exceptional form against Liverpool at the weekend, making a total of 12 saves in his side’s 2-1 defeat at Anfield.

And supporters have expressed their surprise at the 27-year-old's omission.
