Spurs fans split on link with Lemar

Tottenham Hotspur fans have reacted to a fresh report linking them with Atletico Madrid winger Thomas Lemar.

Foot Mercato previously mooted them as a suitor for the France international, and The Independent have now reported that Spurs have been offered the chance to sign him in the January transfer window.

The big fat Tottenham quiz of 2019 – how much do you remember about the last year at Spurs?

How many red cards has Heung-Min Son received in 2019?

The report states that the club are weighing up a loan move that would cost €6m (£5m) with a potential option to buy the 24-year-old for €60m (£50.9m).

With Lemar failing to score or provide an assist thus far this season, fans weren’t impressed by the Foot Mercato report – some said the winger isn’t good enough, while others questioned the validity of the link  – and negativity has been a common theme amongst the reaction once again…

Some other supporters, though, are more open to the idea than when the rumour initially emerged, perhaps because it’s now clear Lemar is available to Tottenham or because of the way the deal would be structured.

Lemar, of course, was at the centre of something of a transfer tug-of-war prior to his move to Atletico, with Arsenal interested in securing his signature.

Would signing Thomas Lemar be a bad move to make?

During his time at Monaco he scored 22 goals and registered 33 assists, playing for the club when Joao Sacramento, Spurs’ assistant coach, was also with the Ligue 1 side.

It remains to be seen if Lemar will end up in north London; the Gunners are also said to be interested, as they were prior to his switch to La Liga.

Meanwhile, Spurs fans have told Daniel Levy to do one thing in January.
