Tottenham Hotspur fans have taken great glee in trolling pantomime villain Sol Campbell after his Southend United side were knocked out of the FA Cup.

Southend, who play their football in League One, faced Dover Athletic in the first round on Sunday.

Dover are currently 12th in the National League but an 84th-minute strike from Ruel Sotiriou proved decisive as they booked their passage into the second round, much to the amusement of Spurs fans.

Tottenham supporters, of course, haven’t had much to cheer about this season and currently lie in the bottom half of the Premier League table, 11 points off the top four.

They have taken the opportunity, though, to indulge in a touch of schadenfreude at the expense of their former defender.

Campbell, of course, played for the club between 1992 and 2001 and captained the club to cement his status as a true fan's favourite prior to a controversial move to Arsenal, for whom he won two Premier League titles.

The 45-year-old’s job at Southend is his second in management, having previously coached Macclesfield Town.
