Christian Eriksen has confirmed that he wants to leave Tottenham Hotspur this summer, per Esktra Bladet, and fans want any move to be the catalyst for a summer of investment.

The attacking midfielder has been heavily linked with Real Madrid across the past few months and he has now outlined his intention to depart the north London club.

Of course, he has added a caveat that he could potentially sign a new contract if no transfer materialises but it appears that he has his heart set on a departure.

He said: “I feel that I am at a stage of my career where I would like to try something new.

“I have the deepest respect for everything that is happening at Tottenham and it would not be something negative to stay. But I have also said that I would like to try something new.

“I hope that something will be decided this summer. That is the plan. In football, you never know when there could be a decision like that. It could be at any point. The best thing is always for it to happen quickly but in football things take time.”

Spurs have been linked with a number of players across the past few weeks, with Real Betis' Giovani Lo Celso, Lyon's Tanguy Ndombele and Fulham's Ryan Sessegnon all potential recruits, per the London Evening Standard, while Celta Vigo's Maxi Gomez has also been mooted as a possible acquisition.

The Guardian claim that Real may be forced to pay £130m to secure the Dane's signature and fans have called for the club to take the money and invest in the squad for the first time since January 2018.
