Christian Eriksen has confirmed that he wants to leave Tottenham Hotspur this summer, per Esktra Bladet, and fans want any move to be the catalyst for a summer of investment.
The attacking midfielder has been heavily linked with Real Madrid across the past few months and he has now outlined his intention to depart the north London club.
Of course, he has added a caveat that he could potentially sign a new contract if no transfer materialises but it appears that he has his heart set on a departure.
He said: “I feel that I am at a stage of my career where I would like to try something new.
“I have the deepest respect for everything that is happening at Tottenham and it would not be something negative to stay. But I have also said that I would like to try something new.
“I hope that something will be decided this summer. That is the plan. In football, you never know when there could be a decision like that. It could be at any point. The best thing is always for it to happen quickly but in football things take time.”
Spurs have been linked with a number of players across the past few weeks, with Real Betis’ Giovani Lo Celso, Lyon’s Tanguy Ndombele and Fulham’s Ryan Sessegnon all potential recruits, per the London Evening Standard, while Celta Vigo’s Maxi Gomez has also been mooted as a possible acquisition.
The Guardian claim that Real may be forced to pay £130m to secure the Dane’s signature and fans have called for the club to take the money and invest in the squad for the first time since January 2018.

Re: Christian Eriksen quotes. There is a clear need for #thfc 2.0 under Mauricio Pochettino and to achieve that it means sacrificing one big name. No doubt he's a big loss, but we've won nothing, like Liverpool did with Coutinho, use money to reinvest for better rounded squad. pic.twitter.com/vO448IZ88R

Good of Eriksen to show the upmost respect to the club by attempting to crash his value down. Very good player, should be better than he is, and plays in a position that is dying out of the game. If replaced well, we’ll be fine without him.

Not saying I’d be happy to eriksen go. But I think most Spurs fans feel like the relationship has run its course. Probably best for both parties as long as we can get Lo celso or someone similar. Younger faster stronger not saying will be an upgrade but it’s a possibility ?

On his day Eriksen is one of the best players in Europe however nobody is bigger than our club.
Similar to Coutinho with Liverpool if Spurs can use the money from the sale to reinvest for a better rounded squad then this may be the transfer which pushes our club on.#THFC #COYS pic.twitter.com/tfZm0BBJj0

Sell Eriksen now. After those comments clearly not committed to the club and hasn't even been at his best this season. Still can't take corners properly either. £50 or £60 million would be a right result #THFC #COYS

Eriksen has to go. If a player doesn't want to be there u will not get the best from them. His mind started to wander last season. Cash in, get N'Dombele & Lo Celso and then play a more fixed formation (like LFC do) *rather* than working a system around 1 player #COYS #Eriksen

Assuming we replace him with TWO quality playmakers (we need a bigger squad), I'm happy to let Eriksen go, based on recent performances and today's comments.
He's a great player on his day, but his day has become too rare – and I prefer players who get stuck in a bit more. #COYS pic.twitter.com/vSgyEJiVCf

Can’t say I’m too upset over the Eriksen news. Given us some amazing moments that we’ll never forget. But consistency hasn’t been there this season. If we can use the money to invest in players like Lo Celso and N’Dombele then our midfield is better ??♂️ #COYS
