Lucas Moura was in genuinely atrocious form as Tottenham Hotspur lost 2-1 to Manchester United at Old Trafford.

On the chalkboard

The Brazilian has history at United’s ground.

Last season, of course, he scored twice as Mauricio Pochettino’s side won 3-0 against Jose Mourinho’s Red Devils.

On Wednesday, though, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s hosts beat Mourinho’s Spurs and Lucas is majorly culpable. He had 33 touches of the ball, fewer than any of his team-mates to start the game, per WhoScored.

He did not have a single shot on goal throughout the 90 minutes while he completed just 14 passes, with a pass completion rate of 78%.

He did complete one dribble but he attempted three and was also dispossessed once.

This was a forward player who was actively hindering his side as they looked to attack.

A black mark

Mourinho’s reign at Spurs is still in its infancy.

He has seen his side play just four times in total and he will still be sizing up the players and their strengths and weaknesses.

On Wednesday, Lucas was not the only player to blot his copybook but his flaws were remarkably noticeable.

He did not trouble David De Gea once and became more and more withdrawn as the game progressed.

Tasked with providing support to Harry Kane up front, he simply couldn’t do it.

It remains to be seen if he will be allowed to stay in Mourinho’s team for much longer.

Meanwhile, Spurs fans have hailed a youngster in their academy.
