Tottenham Hotspur have been given a major boost in their bid to sign Crystal Palace right-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka, per Football Insider.
The report claims that Spurs scouts have been watching Wan-Bissaka as they weigh up a summer offer for a player who has made great strides this season.
Wan-Bissaka has enjoyed an exceptional campaign at Palace, making fast progress under manager Roy Hodgson at Selhurst Park.
The 21-year-old has made 35 appearances in all competitions this season and has also won two caps for England’s Under-21 side.
Palace want Wan-Bissaka to stay, Football Insider claim, but a bid of £30million would see them discuss a deal.
Spurs are said to be ready to conduct a major overhaul of the club’s squad this summer.
And the report claims that the Eagles star is seen as the right profile of player to build around in the coming years.
Doubts persist over the futures of both Toby Alderweireld and Christian Eriksen at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
But it appears that there could be more departures than that duo, with Kieran Trippier and Serge Aurier both consistently highest in the right-back pecking order in Mauricio Pochettino’s squad.
Trippier has endured a difficult season, categorised by amateurish mistakes, while Aurier is ill-disciplined and seemingly deemed as untrustworthy by his manager.
A move for Wan-Bissaka, then, would surely see both players put up for sale.
Kyle Walker-Peters has been fast-tracked into the first-team and played 90 minutes against Huddersfield Town at the weekend.
He would be able to deputise for the Palace star were a transfer completed, with the cash pocketed from the sales of both the England international and the ex-PSG defender available for reinvestment elsewhere in the squad.
