The Lilywhites have recently sanctioned the exits of Paulinho and Etienne Capoue, who could be followed out of the club by Benjamin Stambouli, with the Frenchman nearing a move to Paris Saint-Germain.
With the trio, potentially, all off of Spurs’ books, manager Maurico Pochettino could be left a little light in central midfield, and Ilicic is, reportedly, a target.
The Slovenia international shone for Fiorentina last term, with his eight goals for La Viola making him one of the star performers in Florence.
Ilicic is most comfortable in a more advanced attacking midfield role, and could be used in tandem with Christian Eriksen to create opportunities for star striker Harry Kane.
Spurs have already made three additions this summer in the shape of defensive trio Kieran Trippier, Toby Alderweireld and Kevin Wimmer.
