Spurs keen on talented winger, deal may require record-breaking fee

Spurs are interested in Toluca winger Christian Cueva, who is valued at €20m (£15.7m), according to reports from Libero.

The 24-year-old currently plies his trade in the Mexican top flight and is considered to be one of Peru’s most promising talents.

He’s been capped 12 times at senior international level on the back of his domestic showings, and reports claim that Tottenham are looking closely at him.

However, they may have make him the most expensive player in the history of Peruvian football by paying Toluca a £15.7m fee, which would smash the £11.1m sum passed from Schalke to PSV Eindhoven for Jefferson Farfan back in 2008.

It’s understood that Spurs have had scouts watching Cueva, whom they are hopeful they could secure a work permit for given his recent international exploits.
