As reported by The Telegraph, Tottenham Hotspur are keeping tabs on Ross Barkley's situation at Everton with a view to signing him next year.

What's the word?

Spurs are building up quite the collection of talented England internationals; Harry Kane, Eric Dier, Dele Alli amongst others.

Now they've set their eyes on another and are interested in one of Everton's homegrown stars.

The Telegraph reckon it would take £25m to bring Ross Barkley to London, despite having just 18 months left on his contract.

Ronald Koeman has yet to truly bring out the best in the 23 year old and he's yet to sign a new deal at Goodison Park. He was dropped for Everton's trip to Watford but a return to the first team against Arsenal paid dividends with the midfielder contributing with an assist.

Should he stay or should he go?

It's always tough for home grown players to consider leaving their club, especially when they've emerged into a fine first team talent.

A move to Spurs could revitalise Barkley's career. Despite being ever popular with Everton fans, he's not quite hitting the heights he's potentially capable of as a player.

There's question marks about his suitability in Koeman's side and the more expressive and creative set-up at Spurs could prove tempting.

Ross Barkley and Everton have gone hand-in-hand for over 5 years now and if that relationship isn't as beneficial to Barkley as it once was, he'd do well to follow his ambition.
