Spurs boss Jose Mourinho has hinted that his current crop of available first-team stars aren't good enough for what he wants to achieve, even if that wasn't his original intentions following scathing comments post-game on Saturday afternoon.

What's he said?

The north Londoners were well beaten by their local rivals Chelsea at Stamford Bridge even though the scoreline tells a different story.

Olivier Giroud opened with an impressive effort, beating Hugo Lloris at his near post before Marcos Alonso doubled the advantage with a strike from range just three minutes into the second half.

Spurs' only goal came courtesy of Antonio Rudiger, which was one of the visitor's five attempts at goal, compared to Chelsea's 17.

Following the match, Mourinho told reporters that it would be a very long three months considering the position they find themselves in, he said:

"I would love to be at July 1. I would love to be in pre-season, working with Harry Kane, [Moussa] Sissoko and Sonny [Heung-min Son]. That's not possible. We have three long months to go in three competitions where we are still [in it]. It's going to be three long months."

Kick in the teeth

Whether Mourinho's intentions were for it to sound a little discouraging remains to be seen, he probably didn't mean it that way, but those words have come out his mouth, and it suggests that he believes the squad at his disposal isn't good enough or performing to the right standard.

This must be a massive kick in the teeth for those players that aren't any one of the injured trio Harry Kane, Heung-min Son or Moussa Sissoko - the Portuguese boss has effectively said they are a weak team without those three.

Obviously, he is having to work without the qualities of his two top goalscorers, but he should be offering up encouragement to his side instead of subtly criticising them.

Spurs are now four points behind breaking into the top four picture - a win at their rivals would have seen Mourinho's side leapfrog them with a two-point cushion.

They've been left with it all to do.

Where is he from?! Can you name which obscure countries these famous players have represented?

Sadly for Mourinho, this isn't Football Manager and you can't sim to the summer and have another crack at the transfer window. He's going to have to steer his side to the Champions League another way - though, these comments won't have helped.
