Tottenham fans on Twitter would like to see the club move Paris Saint-Germain striker Edinson Cavani following the news that Harry Kane has been ruled out of action until April.

The England international injured his hamstring in the defeat against Southampton on New Year's Day, and it has now been confirmed by the club that he will miss the rest of January and all of February and March as he requires surgery.

Unsurprisingly given 17-year-old Troy Parrott is now their only specialist striker, talk among Spurs supporters has turned to which centre-forward they could bring in before the transfer window closes on January 31.

Krzysztof Piatek of AC Milan has been heavily linked with a £28m move, but the following members of the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium faithful would seemingly prefer Uruguay international Cavani, with one individual suggesting he would be a better buy than Piatek, and another saying he could be our Fernando Llorente.

The Spaniard of course largely played back up to Harry Kane in north London before departing for Napoli during the summer, although surely Cavani wouldn't be happy to do the same when the striker returns from injury.

According to Le Parisien, via AS, PSG would demand €10m (£8.5m) to let the 32-year-old leave this month, with his contract due to expire at the end of the season.

That surely must be a tempting deal for Jose Mourinho and Daniel Levy even if they have to pay his wages, given the South American is a proven goalscorer at the highest level having netted 198 goals in 292 games for the Ligue 1 holders.

It's the dawn of a new decade in the Premier League, but how much do you know about the last 10 years?

Piatek may be younger at 24 years of age, but he had scored just four goals in 18 Serie A appearances for Milan in 2019/20 prior to the weekend.

Others chose to primarily focus on the potential finances involved to complete a deal, with more than one suggesting it wouldn't be doable because of that exact reason.

From what we know about Levy, they could well be right.
