Harry Kane’s rise has been bewildering. The striker was a fringe player at the start of the season, with his game time limited to cup and European matches. However, some great showings – and some not so great ones from Roberto Soldado and Emmanuel Adebayor – opened the door for him, and he’s not looked back.
19 Premier League goals and a role in the England set-up have followed, as well as a role wearing the captain’s armband at White Hart Lane. He took the responsibility during the last game against Burnley, and with the injuries that have hindered senior stars still in place; he’s once again got the role.
Okay, Kane has been good this season and his goalscoring exploits have been vital for Spurs… but captain? Really? Twitter reacted in the usual fashion… and here are some of the bets bits…

Pochettino made Kane captain again today. Why can’t they allow this guy to grow at his own pace
