Tottenham Hotspur are unwilling to sell Kevin Wimmer this month despite serious interest from Schalke, according to reports from Sky Sports.
The 23-year-old only completed a move to White Hart Lane during the summer from FC Koln, signing a five-year contract.
However, he has struggled to earn himself a regular role under manager Mauricio Pochettino since his arrival given the form of Belgium defensive pair Jan Vertonghen and Toby Alderweireld.
The German outfit are said to have already opened talks to sign the defender, but have now been denied the chance of a transfer.
They were hoping to sign Wimmer as a possible replacement for injured star Benedikt Howedes, who has been ruled out for up to three months with a thigh problem.
The Spurs man has only played 16 minutes of league football this term after coming on at the weekend to replace the injured Vertonghen, while making two appearances in the Europa League and a further two in the FA Cup.
