Tottenham are plotting a shock summer move for Chelsea outcast Mohamed Salah, however, the Blues are reluctant to sell to a direct and local rival, according to reports from the London Evening Standard.
The Egypt international only signed for the Stamford Bridge outfit 18 months ago, but his spell in the west end of the capital has been largely understated – he spent the latter half of 2014/15 on loan at Fiorentina.
Salah impressed in Italy, starring for La Viola in domestic and continental action – he helped to knock Spurs out of the Europa League – and Tottenham are eager to offer him a fresh start at White Hart Lane.
Fiorentina want to extend the 23-year-old’s stay, but the Lilywhites remain hopeful that another chance in the Premier League could sway him.
However, Chelsea are far more receptive to a deal with a foreign side, with strengthening a domestic and local rival far from ideal.
Salah, who netted nine goals in 26 outings at Fiorentina, is seen as surplus to requirements under Jose Mourinho.
