Tottenham Hotspur play Middlesbrough in their FA Cup third round replay on Tuesday.

The two clubs played out a 1-1 draw at the Riverside Stadium and were subsequently drawn together in the fourth round draw; the winner of this tie will face Southampton.

Spurs lost to Liverpool at the weekend and face Watford on Saturday so this is something of a tricky selection for manager Jose Mourinho; it is, after all, a game he will have wanted to avoid.

But Football FanCast has laid out the team he should select below.

Paulo Gazzaniga has to play in goal with Hugo Lloris injured.

Serge Aurier played at the weekend but one feels that he can handle a tough run of games so he should be selected at right-back.

While Japhet Tanganga was drafted in against the Reds, he was so impressive that he should be kept fit for the weekend clash with Watford. As a result, a strong central defensive pairing of Jan Vertonghen and Davinson Sanchez makes sense.

At left-back, Danny Rose proved his fitness to play against the Reds and ought to keep his place.

Midfield is trickier.

The big fat Tottenham quiz of 2019 - how much do you remember about the last year at Spurs?

Harry Winks played against Liverpool and there is a risk of overrunning certain players. However, he is young and mobile and should not be in danger of injury; he should play.

This could also be a good time to test Giovani Lo Celso in a midfield role. He played well after coming on as a substitute on Saturday, despite missing a sitter, and he would offer creativity from deep.

Further forward, Erik Lamela needs match sharpness – he has yet to start under Mourinho – and this is a fine time to give him that.

Ryan Sessegnon should also replace Son Heung-Min on the left flank, while playing Christian Eriksen – provided he is still around and no move to Inter Milan has been finalised – makes sense, particularly if he is going to leave. Against Watford, Dele Alli can return to the No.10 role.

Up front, one has to feel that now is the time to give Troy Parrott a proper go. Spurs have played without an out-and-out centre-forward since Harry Kane’s injury; bringing Parrott in could completely change the dynamic of their build-up play and would also give him a chance to prove his worth.

Meanwhile, Spurs fans have hammered one man for his display against Liverpool.
