Spurs ready to beat Chelsea to La Liga champ deal

Spurs are keen to beat Chelsea to the signature of Napoli attacker Jose Callejon, according to reports from Metro.

The Spaniard, who won the La Liga title with Real Madrid under the guidance of Jose Mourinho in 2011/12, has been in terrific form since joining the Italian side two years ago, but his future at the San Paolo is in doubt following the club’s failure to qualify for the Champions League and the exit of manager Rafa Benitez.

And reports claim that Callejon’s 26 Serie A goals have attracted Spurs’ attention, with the Londoners favourites to land the attacker.

The 28-year-old is able to play on either flank, as a ‘No.10’ or up front and would offer Mauricio Pochettino a viable option to work alongside Harry Kane – Roberto Soldado and Emmanuel Adebayor have struggled.

However, Callejon may command a sizeable fee, with Napoli having told interested parties that only significant offers will be considered.
