Spurs set for talks with former Chelsea forward

Tottenham will talk to Lille attacker Salomon Kalou this month, according to the Mirror.

The former Chelsea forward is eyeing up a return to the Premier League, with Spurs keen on securing the Ivorian’s services.

Kalou is set to discuss a move with Spurs chiefs on Friday, ahead of a potential £3million transfer out of Ligue 1. The midfielder has scored 20 league goals in the last 18 months, 6 of which came this season, helping Lille surprisingly rival PSG and Monaco for the league title.

The midfielder’s form for Lille has led to the Ligue 1 side keen on keeping the 28-year-old, who scored 60 goals in all competitions during his 6 year stay at Stamford Bridge. But the Ivorian struggled to get regular first team football, and joined Lille in 2012 on a free transfer.

The Ivorian has been linked with Liverpool this window, but it seems Spurs will be the first club to make contact with his representatives, as Tim Sherwood looks to make his first signing as Tottenham boss.

Erik Lamela, Nacer Chadli and Etienne Capoue have struggled to make an impact since moving to White Hart Lane in the summer, and Sherwood could be about to bring in Kalou to help the club’s challenge for a top 4 finish into the Champion’s League.
