The two London sides are set to face off for the first piece of major silverware of the 2014/15 season on Sunday, and the Blues’ in form stopper has talked up his chances of stopping the Lilywhites’ star man by claiming that he knows how he likes to finish.
The pair faced off at White Hart Lane over the winter and it was Kane who came out on top, netting twice in a stunning 5-3 win for the home side.
The League Cup Final will be the first time since then the two players have met, and King – a hero in the white half of north London – feels that the Tottenham ace has the tools to make sure the Chelsea stopper will be eating his words when the final whistle sounds:
“I think, if I was Harry, I’d like that (Courtois’ comments) because it’s a challenge.” He told the London Evening Standard.
“As a player, as a professional you take on the challenge so it’s obviously due to confidence that a keeper like Courtois can come out and say that and it shows he has a lot of confidence in his ability.
“Knowing Harry I’m sure he’ll be looking to prove him wrong. It’s a nice situation and I think it’s a good battle to be looking forward to.”
