Harry Kane may have scored twice for Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday but he still can’t pass the ball properly for Spurs.

On the chalkboard

Jose Mourinho’s men thumped Burnley on Saturday, winning 5-0 at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

In addition to Kane’s brace, Son Heung-Min, Moussa Sissoko and Lucas Moura were also on the scoresheet in a convincing victory.

But one has to question the England international’s output when it comes to giving the ball to his team-mates.

Per WhoScored, he had 56 touches of the ball throughout the 90 minutes and attempted 34 passes.

However, he completed just 62% of those, with two of his 21 accurate balls registered as key passes.

That number is lower than any other outfield player to start the game for Spurs and it is an area in which one feels he must improve, even if it had little bearing on the result on Saturday.

Mourinho's produced some incredible footballing stars - how much do you know about them?

A pattern emerging

Kane’s passing hasn’t been very good this season.

Per WhoScored, he has had a completion rate higher than 80% on just two occasions this season – against Leicester City and Aston Villa, when he attempted 21 passes in total in both games.

However, he has had below 70% on 10 separate occasions, hitting its nadir against Arsenal, when he completed exactly half of his attempted passes.

Of course, it feels like being needlessly harsh at a time in which Kane has scored twice but it is a question that he will have to answer, particularly if he is to play up front on his own in Jose Mourinho's system.

A key job in that role is to bring other players into the game; as it is, he's not doing that as consistently as he should be as his stats prove.

It is a puzzle for both the coach and the striker to fix.

Meanwhile, Spurs have to start playing one man
