Tottenham Hotspur defender Jan Vertonghen has talked up the emerging Cameron Carter-Vickers, as reported by ESPN.
The 18-year-old is one of the many exciting burgeoning talents at White Hart Lane and was recently handed his debut during the thumping of Gillingham in the EFL Cup.
A powerful central defender, an air of excitement emanates from the American, even at this early stage of his career.
Now, teammate Vertonghen has shared his thoughts on the talented teen, after watching him in training in recent months.
Mauricio Pochettino has a good track record in developing young talent, creating a hugely exciting side in North London since arriving from Southampton in 2014.
‘CVC’ has been training with the club’s firs-team since last season, leaving quite the impression on his more experienced Belgian teammate.
With an increased schedule after qualifiyng for the Champions League, the teenager could be line for more opportunities across the campaign.
“He’s a very good player and he has time to grow into our team, to play games like he did against Gillingham,” Vertonghen said.
“He’ll be there when we need him. It’s good to see him making such progress.
“In the last few months, he’s really stepped up. Before, he was just a young guy who trained with us but now he’s picked up his level. It’s great for young guys like that coming through the academy.”
