The Lilywhites are already well-endowed in the goalkeeping department, with top-class No.1 Hugo Lloris understudied by the more than capable Michel Vorm.
But it appears Mauricio Pochettino wants a younger shot-stopper at his disposal, amid news the north London club have made a ‘firm offer’ to sign Lopez – although it’s not quite clear whether the offer has been made to the club or the 21-year-old.
The Spaniard made 36 appearances in La Liga last season, registering 85 saves, keeping seven clean sheets and picking up four yellow cards.
However, Spurs are by no means the only club interested in signing the Spain U21, with an unnamed Serie A side also in the running.
A move for Lopez would certainly create doubts over Vorm’s Tottenham career, especially with his contract due to expire in 2018.
