Spurs target to turn down Southampton deal in order to force through move

Victor Wanyama is set to reject a new deal at Southampton in order to force through a move to Tottenham Hotspur, according to the Daily Express.

The Kenyan bruiser was linked with a switch to link up with former boss Mauricio Pochettino at White Hart Lane, though a move never materialised.

He had been left out of the Saints side by manager Ronald Koeman after requesting a move, but has returned to first-team proceedings recently.

Following speculation, the South Coast outfit had laid a new deal on the table for the player in an effort to tie him down, but the 24-year old looks set to reject it.

Despite fending off Spurs’ initial overtures, reports suggest ‘it is not in Victor’s interests to sign an extension.’

Southampton signed him from Celtic in 2013 after some excellent performances for the Scottish champions, including a goal in the famous Champions League win over Barcelona.
