The Lilywhites are looking to wrap up a deal for striker Vincent Janssen, who bagged 27 goals in the Eredivisie last season and is rated at £17million by current employers AZ Alkmaar.
And once Spurs have officially signed the Netherlands international, they’ll switch their attentions to potential attacking midfield additions.
That’s according to The Telegraph, who claim Newcastle United’s Georginio Wijnaldium is one of the names on Mauricio Pochettino’s hit list.
The Netherlands international was in strong form last season, bagging eleven goals and five assists in 38 Premier League appearances, but couldn’t prevent the Magpies from plummeting out of the top flight.
He also averaged an impressive 1.4 shots, 1.2 created chances and 1.4 successful dribbles per match whilst undertaking a variety of midfield roles, spanning both flanks, defensive midfield and No.10.
Wijnaldum has already hinted he could be on the move this summer.
As quoted by The Telegraph, the 25-year-old recently told reporters; “Of course I want to play at as high level as possible, in the Premier League, with a beautiful club – but not everything always goes the way you want. I will see what happens.”
