According to David Ornstein in The Athletic, Tottenham Hotspur are keen on signing Norwich City starlet Todd Cantwell, but they face stiff competition from a host of Premier League rivals.

What's the word?

It's claimed that runaway leaders Liverpool are 'front-runners' to clinch the midfielder this summer after stepping up their pursuit post-January.

Both Manchester clubs as well as Spurs will have to rival the European champions to secure Cantwell's signature with the Canaries valuing him at around £30m.

Grealish all over again

The 21-year-old has been in imperious form for Norwich this season, even despite their struggles of sitting rock bottom in the top-flight.

He's contributed six goals and two assists in 27 appearances, playing in a variety of midfield positions, but primarily at left-wing, per Transfermarkt.

Liverpool were able to see first-hand what their transfer target had to offer on Saturday evening as Sadio Mane's strike was the only difference between the two sides.

And Cantwell's performance at Carrow Road led to high-acclaim on Match of the Day from Danny Murphy.

"He has caught my eye more than once this season, he's a terrific player. I like his creativity. I like his bravery on the ball. Good awareness of where players are. With and without the ball he does his job. He's not just a luxury player because he's got the skills. He can do the defensive work. I do think if they go down, he is someone the other teams will be looking at."

The England U21 international has drawn comparisons to Leicester City's James Maddison, no surprise as he came to light in Norfolk too, Portuguese legend Deco and even Aston Villa's Jack Grealish, who Spurs know all too well.

Daniel Levy and co can't allow a similar situation to ensue here either - having missed out on the 24-year-old 18 months ago for just £6m, he's now valued at £80m by the Midlands outfit whilst the pair are evidently very similar position-wise.

They can't gift a rival club the chance to sign this rising talent, but will the chairman budge on £30m? It's highly unlikely given his negotiation history.

If a club like Liverpool are willing to pay it, then fifth-place Spurs must do all they can to beat them.
