Tottenham Hotspur have interest in both Giovani Lo Celso and Paulo Dybala this summer, per Football FanCast sources.

The Real Betis star, the former, has been at the centre of protracted negotiations between Spurs and the Spanish club in recent months.

Dybala, the Juventus attacker, is deemed a more ambitious target but the interest is genuine, with Mauricio Pochettino a real fan of the Argentina international.

Both players would strengthen the club’s attacking ranks but which would bring the best out of striker Harry Kane?

Lo Celso

The Argentine enjoyed an exceptional 2018/19 season, scoring 16 goals in all competitions for Betis.

He has played with a number of strikers throughout his career, including the likes of Edinson Cavani and Kylian Mbappe at PSG.

He is not very good at bringing them into play, however.

Per Transfermarkt, the best partnership he has formed came with Marco Ruben at Rosario in Argentina. In 37 games, Lo Celso assisted Ruben four times. Ruben assisted Lo Celso once.

Loren Moron, the current Betis centre-forward, has scored two goals after being assisted by Lo Celso, while the Spurs target has scored once after being played in by Ruben.

Lo Celso assisted Cavani once and Mbappe once.

This does not bode particularly well for the way in which Lo Celso plays and pairs with centre-forwards.

Comparing him to Christian Eriksen seems almost unfair given the sheer size of the sample available to us but the Dane has assisted Kane 25 times across 213 games.

Lo Celso will have to get his head up a little if he is to help Kane as he looks to fire Spurs to glory.

Indeed, throughout his career, the 23-year-old has registered 26 assists in his career. That number simply has to rise.

Dybala

Paulo Dybala celebrates scoring for Juventus

A genuinely electric forward presence, Dybala has made 182 appearances for Juventus and also had 93 outings for Palermo.

He has played alongside the likes of Mario Mandzukic, Gonzalo Higuain and Cristiano Ronaldo during his time at the Old Lady and his numbers are encouraging, per Transfermarkt.

Alongside Higuain, Dybala assisted the striker eight times and the roles reversed six times. Kane, of course, likes playing in his team-mates too.

Alongside Mandzukic, the Argentine assisted the Croatia international four times and was assisted for eight goals.

When he plays well alongside a strike partner, Dybala is able to dovetail well and one has to point out here that he is more of a striker than Lo Celso is.

But, all the same, his numbers are better.

He was slightly squeezed out last season as Ronaldo arrived in Turin and they assisted each other twice each.

Of the two, though, the numbers point to Dybala being the acquisition Spurs should be chasing.
