According to Corriere Dello Sport, via Sport Witness, Tottenham Hotspur have given serious thought into another approach for AC Milan striker Krzysztof Piatek before deadline day on Friday.

What's the word?

The report claims that the 24-year-old is allowed to leave the Serie A side this month with Spurs keen on finding a frontman to fill the void left behind by injury to Harry Kane.

It's believed that Daniel Levy had been unwilling to meet the asking price for Piatek earlier in the month with attention instead turning to Real Sociedad forward Willian Jose, but per the Telegraph, the two teams are some way off coming to an agreement.

However, the north Londoners could come back in for the Polish international before the transfer window slams shut in less than a week.

Kane replacement

This would be a fresh twist in Tottenham's pursuit to find a new talisman that can deputise in the absence of their top goalscorer.

And what better player would there be than a man who has compared himself to Kane in the past. In an interview with l'Ultimo Uomo, Piatek said: "My two favourite centre forward are [Robert] Lewandowski and Harry Kane, perhaps I have characteristics more similar to those of English, made with the proper proportions."

Whilst his style of play has been described as a "classical number nine" due to his excellent positioning, accurate finishing and physical qualities.

So far this campaign, Piatek has notched five goals in all competitions, which has taken his total for the Rossoneri to 16 in just 40 appearances, per Transfermarkt.

In the last seven outings in all competitions, Spurs have failed to score in three of them and have only scored more than one goal in two matches, so it's fair to suggest that they have struggled to find the net in the absence of the 17-goal Kane.

It remains to be seen if the Milan striker can be that guy to transform their fortunes, but one thing is for sure, they are in a race against the clock to find a viable alternative.
