As the Blues staged a two-goal comeback to end the Premier League title hopes of their bitter London rivals, tempers exceeded boiling point at Stamford Bridge.
Both clubs were charged with failing to control their players earlier this week, whilst Dembele has felt the wrath of English football’s governing body following an altercation with Diego Costa.
Some sources have dubbed the Belgium international’s act an ‘eye gouge‘ as he appeared to put his thumb in the Chelsea striker’s eye.
The FA have now confirmed via their official website that Dembele accepted the charge of violent conduct but denied the standard punishment of a three-game ban was insufficient in this instance.
But an Independent Regulatory Commission backed the stance of the FA and the powerful midfielder has been issued a six-game ban with immediate effect.
That will render Dembele absent for Tottenham’s remaining two Premier League fixtures of the current campaign and their first four domestic games for the 2016/17 season.
