Spurs willing to pay up to £27.5m for complicated midfield star deal

Spurs are eager to secure a summer move for impressive Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder Mahmoud Dahoud, although a potential £27.5m deal could be complicated, according to reports from Bild.

The Lilywhites remain one of the Premier League title favourites and could gain points on Leicester this weekend with a win at Liverpool as they seek to reel in the Foxes.

However, not all of their attention is on the task at hand, with reports claiming that transfer plans are being drawn up, with Dahoud a target.

The 20-year-old is considered to be one of the best young attacking midfielders in the Bundesliga, and has shone for Gladbach this term despite his age.

It’s understood that Tottenham are willing to pay between £23.5m-£27.5m for his signature, but are eager to loan him back to his current club for next season to aid his development.

A similar deal was reached with MK Dons for Dele Alli, albeit the teenager cost much less and only spent six months back in Milton Keynes.

Should Spurs blow a huge chunk of their budget on a player that will not be able to help them kick on next term, surely there will be questions asked in light of Mauricio Pochettino’s heroics this season.
