Steffen Freund is hoping Tottenham Hotspur can start quickly and strongly in their Europa League fixture at home to Maribor tonight.

The White Hart Lane outfit are yet to win a game in the competition so far this season having drawn all three of their Group J fixtures.

And Spurs' Assistant Head Coach wants the side to put the Slovenian champions under pressure early and is calling on the fans to help push them to an important three points.

He told the club's official website: "First of all, it is up to us to start well, to put them under pressure, to keep the ball high up the pitch and create chances. Then the goal will come.

"If we are struggling a little, if we can't create or score early, then we need the supporters. They have been fantastic."

Freund also went on to recognise the quality that Maribor have but admits a win is vital in order to put Tottenham in the top two of the group with two games remaining.

"We know it will be another difficult game. It is also the chance to turn everything around in a positive way because we have three draws," he added.

"If we beat Maribor we will definitely be at least second, unbeaten with six points. That would be great."

Meanwhile, midfielder Jake Livermore will have a late fitness test ahead of tonight's game after suffering an ankle injury in last week's 2-1 defeat to Norwich City in the Capital One Cup.
