According to a report from ESPN, Tottenham are lining up a fresh bid for Leicester City winger Demarai Gray.

What's the story?

Demarai Gray is the next in line to receive the Mauricio Pochettino treatment, as the Spurs boss is looking to add more and more young talent to his exciting squad.

The report claims Spurs wanted to sign Gray last summer, and Pochettino has been keeping an eye on him since then.

Spurs are still looking for their first trophy under Pochettino, and the boss hopes adding more attacking talent is the way to do it.

Solid summer swoop for Spurs?

There’s no doubt Gray is a fantastic young player, but is he fantastic enough to get in ahead of any of the Tottenham attackers? Probably not.

The 21 year-old winger only has three goals and one assist in 13 Premier League starts this season, but his fantastic quick feet and direct dribbling is certainly a selling point.

That said, Spurs currently have five players fighting for three spots, all of which would remain ahead of Gray in the pecking order, and all of which are still relatively young as well.

Dele Alli and Christian Eriksen are nailed as the first choices for those three positions behind Harry Kane, followed closely by Heung-min Son, Lucas Moura and Erik Lamela.

Pochettino is great at developing young players, but how is he going to develop Gray when he is the sixth man down the pecking order for three positions?

Unless a player like Lamela leaves the club, a move for Gray would be a waste of money that could be better spent elsewhere, like replacing the probably departing Toby Alderweireld.
